Not sure what's going on with the zoom thing.Welcome to r/SteamDeck, the subreddit for Valve's handheld computer. I would assume it's somewhere between 2-5 but it varies so much based on the game you're playing and the CPU you have that you'll just have to test this on your own. Go ahead and play with that number to see what gives you the best performance for this game. If you want to give this a shot, open up your GSdx Plugin Settings and look at the bottom of the window where it says "Extra rendering threads". As such, running games in a software renderer is VERY CPU-intensive. As the name implies, software renderers are run entirely on your CPU, without any hardware-acceleration help from the GPU. Unfortunately you'll either have to live with those for now so you can keep your higher resolution upscaling or you'll have to switch over to a software renderer to play the game. The graphical glitches are because GSdx's hardware renderers don't support mipmapping, which the Ratchet & Clank games use quite a bit. If at the end of this endeavor your PC is still not capable of hitting full speed in certain games, you'll want to go to the SPU2-X Plugin Settings and change your Synchronizing Mode from TimeStretch to Async Mix so that the audio keeps going at full speed instead of lagging when the rest of the emulator is lagging. Cycle hacks are very finicky and VU Cycle Stealing in particular is well known for causing issues, so I'd recommend moving those sliders all the way back to the left.Īudio in console games (at least ones from the sixth generation of consoles) is tied to the framerate, so whenever you're not able to hit full speed (what PCSX2 calls 60 "FPS") you will hear audio lag. I'm virtually certain that the only reason you're getting halfway decent speeds on such a CPU-intensive game is because of the cycle hacks (EE Cyclerate & VU Cycle Stealing) you have turned on. The bare minimum STR we recommend for PCSX2 is 1500 (1800+ preferred) and your CPU comes in at 1409. The slow down is coming from the subpar single-threaded performance your CPU has. Ok now on to the meat and potatoes of your post: Go ahead and also send me screenshots of the EE/IOP and VUs tabs please. Also please set the cycle hack sliders all the way back to the left, I'll explain why below. In the Speedhacks tab, enable mVU Flag Hack, it's perfectly safe and provides a speed up. GSdx Plugin Settings window - Why do you have Interlacing set to "None"? "Auto" is usually the default option and works just fine on 99% of games.Įmulation Settings window - In the Game Fixes tab, why do you have the "Enable manual game fixes " enabled? You don't seem to be using any manual game fixes. Plugin/BIOS Selector window - According to Wikipedia, your processor supports SSE4.1 so I'd change your GSdx version from SSSE3 to SSE4.1, it should bring you a performance increase in some situations. A couple of things in regards to your settings:
